Preserving your unique culture to empower your workforce and maximize your office space is essential for success—and even more important during this pivotal time.
Culture serves as a guidepost for people’s needs and organizational goals. To enhance the performance of your people, organization, and facility, it’s important to understand cultural implications— what people value and how it affects space design.

Leveraging the Competing Values Framework
™
Work from Anywhere is the ecosystem that gives organizations and employees choice in where and when work occurs.
Work will happen fluidly through the entire ecosystem of office, home, and third place, with the office as the hub. We are exploring how the office needs to change to optimize the space to enhance culture, encourage collaboration, and support human performance.
Work from Anywhere
Being able to connect with people virtually is a new normal. To keep everyone in the organization connected, more embedded, easy-to-use technology will be needed throughout the space.
As the office becomes the hub of connection and culture for the organization, more group spaces will be desired to support collaboration.
Creativity thrives when groups can easily switch between focus and restore activities. Providing this flexibility in the office enhances the experience, creating a workplace where people will want to work together in person.
As we return to the office, the way we use space and what we expect in the workspace has changed—it will be more about the activities and autonomy than assigned to individuals. Space will shift to provide more group space, flexible multi-use spaces, and smaller focus areas.
Space design will focus on human performance in aesthetic and vibe—bringing in more hospitality and focusing on the experience around health, safety, and service.

What's Changed
5 THEMES FOR THE FUTURE OF THE OFFICE
AFFORDANCE • (noun) The characteristics of an object or space that encourages a particular behavior, or—put more simply—the opportunity for action.
A workspace is much more than a container for people. And it’s much more than a tool used to perform a task. A well-designed workspace participates in performing
the task, enabling optimal human performance -cognitively, emotionally, and physically.
The Haworth Global Design & Innovation team’s studies have identified 10 core Affordances vital to human performance in any workspace, and critical to the design of an Organic Workspace. When applied effectively, they help create the conditions that support well-being, allow people to do their best work, and enhance the workplace experience.
