Designers discuss post Covid-19 design solutions and consideration
Kīyonda Powell, Creative in Chief of Kīyonda Powell Design Studio (KPDS), is a creative composer whose mission is to provide each client and project with an exclusively curated experience. With a
boutique decor studio based in Washington, DC, Kīyonda also works
with clients across the country. She takes a collaborative approach with clients by encouraging conversations within the creative process. Kīyonda loves to visually stimulate the client and users with the design experience; pushing the limits of risk and reward
while instinctively understanding what her clients want through keen observation and thoughtful management of their expectations.
The design voice of impact and change. Kia Weatherspoon, NCIDQ, ASID, has spent the last 15 years defying every design stereotype. The most damaging: interior design is a luxury reserved for
a few. Her voice, advocacy for Design Equity™, and design practice have shifted the narrative, making interior design a standard for all. Kia is challenging the lack of these standards in economically challenged communities. Her presence and leadership have created ripples,
prompting housing developers, agencies, and industry partners in economically challenged communities to not just to take notice of her work – but to do better.

DuVäl is a residential interior designer, based in the City of Fairfax, VA. His projects range from one-floor, turn-key deliverables, to completely custom homes—he partners with local builders and developers to offer holistic design for new-build homes. His style can be defined as personable and resolved—but where possible, he likes to go ‘seductive’.
